The Original Thin Dense Chrome
Since 1945

75 YEARS OF EXCELLENCE

THROUGH THE YEARS OUR COATING & PROCESSES HAVE CONTINUALLY IMPROVED TO MEET THE DEMANDS OF INDUSTRIAL AND COMMERCIAL APPLICATIONS

Armoloy of Rhode Island has been offering high-quality chromium coatings since 1945. Through the years our coatings, methods, and processes have continually improved to meet the demands of a wide range of industrial and commercial  applications.

THE BIRTH OF ELECTROLIZING®

The chromium coating called Electrolizing® was developed in Providence, RI in 1944 by George Neuman. A product called hard chrome was modified to create thin dense chrome, enabling application to precision parts with lower tolerance thresholds. For those who chose Electrolizing® over a standard hard chrome coating, finishing steps such as grinding and polishing after plating were eliminated. Part tolerances could be maintained with thin, uniform deposits.

BRINGING THIN DENSE CHROME TO MARKET

Electrolizing® was sold as a coating for dies and taps in the tool industry then quickly expanded to include mechanical parts, molds, wear parts, and protection from corrosive environments.

ELECTROLIZING AND ITS PRETENDERS

Armoloy of Rhode Island is located in Providence, RI and is a subsidiary of The Armoloy Corporation, a global network of innovation, processing and fulfillment centers organized to engineer the best coating solution for your specific requirement. This location also houses ME-92 Operations, Inc., which is an industry leader in biocompatible chrome coatings for medical tools and devices.

Armoloy of Rhode Island is the originator of Electrolizing® thin dense chrome and maintains the legacy of this proprietary process that has been the industry gold standard for over 75 years. There are other companies offering chrome applications under the “Electrolizing” banner, most notably The Electrolizing Corporation of Ohio and Electrolizing of Los Angeles. Over the years we have divested ourselves from these companies by continually improving the technology and embodying the principles that gave birth to the name itself: Electrolizing® is the technology and the standards and practices that deliver it precisely and consistently for every application. To that end, you can only find the Electrolizing® coating at our location in Providence.

CERTIFIED AND COMPLIANT

Armoloy of Rhode Island has been tested and is certified compliant with all Federal and State air and water regulations. Our coatings are REACH and RoHS compliant. You can read more about our strong environmental record performance here.
